FOUNDER & OWNER
AKIA DEYVON
Akia Deyvon founded Creative Reaction in 2009 as a high school dance crew. The name “Creative Reaction” was inspired by Akia’s favorite sneakers, Creative Recreations — the shoes that made him feel confident and electric whenever he danced. For Akia, slipping into those sneakers was a ritual before rehearsals, and the name also plays on his vision: after every performance, he wanted the audience to have a truly creative reaction.
Raised in Mt. Pocono, Pennsylvania, Akia had limited creative outlets growing up. Much of his early training and inspiration came from the internet, where he studied industry-leading choreographers, iconic music videos, and dance shows like So You Think You Can Dance and America’s Best Dance Crew. Fueled by his passion and vision, Akia dreamed of creating a dance company that would train artists, perform on big stages, compete nationally, tour globally, and secure professional gigs for its dancers.
After earning his Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications and Dance from Bloomsburg University, Akia officially transformed Creative Reaction into a company in 2017.
Since then, Creative Reaction has become an award-winning team, known for its innovative choreography and unique style. Highlights include opening for Pharrell Williams at the 2019 Something In The Water Festival and performing at prestigious events such as the BET Hip Hop Awards, BET Awards, the Super Bowl 56 Halftime Show, and appearances in major productions like The Color Purple musical film and Praise This.
Akia’s leadership, commercial dance experience, and passion for nurturing talent continue to drive the company’s growth. Every year, Creative Reaction reaches new heights, inspiring dancers and audiences alike with bold creativity and excellence. Akia remains committed to innovation, growth, and inspiring the next generation of performers.
